ROAD BLOCK CAUSES TRIP TO STATION BAR
Got held up in Katoomba this afternoon because of road works and broken down trucks so called in to the STATION BAR to see if there had been any change since the last time I was there last time. As it happened there where two new beers on actually three because there was a keg change over before we left. The first beer was a STONE AND WOOD GARDEN ALE. 3.8% a summer ale. This beer had a good fruity hop aroma and taste with some bitter after taste but nothing over the top. A good easy drinking sessions beer.
Followed that with TWO BIRDS WEST SIDE STORY 5.8% SMOKED BEER. I seem to think the tap badge called this a dark and if it did then I must admit that it wasn’t all that dark but it was smoky both aroma and taste and also had a bit of a chocolate taste and a creamy mouth-feel. I couldn’t find anything about this beer on the Two Birds web site
The third beer was a PIRATE LIFE IPA.6.8% Quite a nice beer the hops bitters and malts seemed all to be balance pretty well which is something you don’t always get with an American style IPA which this is according to Untapp’d. If Stone and Wood have a web page it didn’t leap off the screen at me.
