A FEW FRIDAY BEERS

A QUITE FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING
LORD GLADSTONE HOTEL
A nice small pub of the oldstyle so it appears full and busy, it was Friday lunch time ,looks as though it has a nice beer garden, also full with the lunch crowd, Does a $6,50 schooner special and has a charity keg of VB on weekends. This place doent seem to have any twitter contact, had a 4 PINES KOLSCH, if it wasn’t so far away I could see this place becoming a local.

ROSE HOTEL
Was busy with lunches in the beer garden but the bar was light on drinkers, had a
QUICKDRAW PALE ALE 4.5 from QBREW Rockhamton a brewery I had not heard of before, not a lot on the web, appears to be a home brew suppliers mainly
QUICKDRAW LAGER 4.5% Not much to this beer. NOMAD PALE “SIDEWAYS” 4%

THE DUCK INN PUB AND KITCHEN
Was quite by the time we got to it. Had a HAWTHORN PILSNER-CZECH  4.6Pretty good light and easy. Taste of AKASHA “FIIRE WITHIN” AMBER ALE 5.8have had this before,
while a bit on the hop heavy side for me there was a hint of smoke it was a nice beer
MURAYS DUNKEL “RONNY” DUNKELWEIZEN 5.5% I thought that there was a bit of sourness to this beer which didnt do it any harm at all. FULLERS LONDON PRIDE ENGLISH BITTER 4.1% (hand pump) I like this beer but you do have to wonder if a keg of beer imported from the UK holds up as well and is at its freshest best. It seemed perfectly ok to me but would it be as good as one in London

MR FALCON
I think this  would be more of a wine bar than a craft beer bar but it is a very nice little
place with a good if small courtyard which I would imagine would be cold in the winter. Has a two storey painting of a lady on the courtyard wall’ Had a MOUNTAIN GOAT “NAZ” SCOTCH ALE/WEE HEAVY ALE 6.5% a very pretty beer with a tight white head,
Creamy, smotth and very easy to drink with a caramel (?) aroma very easy to drink and
perhaps the best beer of the day

LITTLE GUY
Had a good time in this small and bar,  Only just opened for the day when we got there so we where first in. must be very tight when it gets busy. Popcorn comes free with the beer. Only three beer  taps but bottled craft beer could be bought
SHENNANIGANS RED SKY 6.5%; BOATROCKER ALPHA QUEEN 5%; MOONDOG JUKE BOX HERO A- IPA 7% MORNIGTON BROWN ALE  5%.  The bar was pretty quite this early so was able to have a good chat with Maria(?) behind the bar who seemed to know her beers .

STAVES BREWPUB
Called in to Staves Brewpub, only recently been aware of this place and it has only been opened for a few weeks. So far it is only selling beer from other breweries but hopes to have their own beer flowin from the tapsby early next year. There are eight taps and I believe that there will be four Staves beers and four guest beers when fully operational. The beers on the go when I was there was  BATCH AMERICAN PALE 5,2%; LITTLE BREWING CO CARDINAL RULE IPA; LITTLE BREWING CITRA 6.5%; YOUNG HENRY NATURAL LAGER; HOLGATE TEMTRESS PORTER; SHENANIGANS RED SKY A-IPA 6.5%;  WAYWARD IPA and WAYWARD SOURPUSS RASPEBERRY TRIPLE’ If I have messed up the last two beers I have missed one

Went to the ESSEN RESTAURANT for a good dinner  and shared a bottle of DREHER BAK BOCK, HUNGARY 7.3%
