ESB AND A STOUT AT THE STATION BAR KATOOMBA
ROCKS BREWING CONVICTION SERIES ESB Extra Special/Strong Bitter 5.1%, At the beginning the bitters was definitely noticeable but after a while the bitters seemed to be overtaken by the malts which imparted a rather heavy sweet taste, which may have become less noticeable if this beer was being considered a sessions beer
THE AUSTRALIAN BREWERY “INTO THE VOID” OATMEAL STOUT 5.4% The first of these I had had very little aroma at the outset which only marginally developed towards the end of the glass, possibly because it was served very cold and didn’t get a chance to warm up. The second glass was poured into a warm glass more or less straight out of the washing machine. The flavours were more noticeable even though the extremely cold beer tended to cool the glass rather than the glass warm the beer. Maybe this had something to do with my impression that the beer was a bit thin. It did pour with a rich brown head. While having some creamy mouth feel it is not as creamy as some oatmeal stouts I have had.
THE STATION BAR Seemed to be setting up for a music night which seemed as though it might be interesting. I don’t know if I got the whole story but the group seemed to be a collection of musicians who had some connection with a radio program aired on Sundays
