AUSTRALIAN BREWERY ROUSE HILL AND GRAND VIEW HOTEL
I stopped off at the Australian brewery today and it has been about a year since my last visit ,,, see posts dated 05/06 2014 and post including their comments 10/06/2014.
The place today was undergoing a major upheaval for an upcoming event. taking into consideration Australian Breweries comment of the 10th of June last year nothing much seems to have changed. The place today was pretty chaotic , I first asked for a saison but there appeared to be a problem with the taps which seemed to be beyond at least three of the staff to fix. Why they didn’t just take it off I don’t know. In its stead I had the stout called Into the Void 5.1% and oatmeal stout , a mild drink with a creamy mouthfeel. I followed this with a Storm Trooper Imperial Pilsner 8.1% , quite a nice drink though maybe a bit high in alcohol for someone who has to drive so this beer finished me for this session. My drinking companion had the All American IPA 4.25 and the Extra Hoppy Ale 5.4%.
I asked the girl who poured the Storm Trooper how she would describe an Imperial Pilsner and I was told that I was asking the wrong person, so it appears as though nothing has changed over the past year and there is still nobody in this establishment who can talk knowledgably about the beers they sell.
As much as I would like to be more upbeat about the Australian Brewery which I think could be a good place to stop off for a craft beer experience it has never seemed to come up to expectations. I was able to get my hands on a card with the beers tasting notes this time.
Again referring to the above post, it appears that the taproom has been constructed, it just wasn’t open today and according to the information I was given, is only open on the weekends.
After a short passage of time to recover from the Australian Brewery we stopped of at the Grand View Hotel Wentworth Falls for Borenore Pale Ale.
