I stayed t the Grand Hotel when I was in Newcastle for a couple of days at the end of last week. A nice hotel which appears to have renovated heir rooms so that it may be true to say that it is more motel thane pub style accommodation. I was a solo traveller in a double room so had plenty of room, it might have been a bit tight with two people. The shower was good, from a “big fella’s” perspective. Tea and coffee making and a small fridge. The room was serviced the second day of my stay, not automatic in some pubs. While being within easy walking distance of early everything, including just over the hill to each a pool. It was quiet enough when I was there, maybe being opposite the police station helped there. Good to because if you have to street park, being across the road from the police station can only be good thing. While I didn’t use it the restaurant seemed popular and I did hear it did good food. And a pub doing breakfast is not a bad thing, if I get to stay there again I will give it a go. As to the beer I only had a couple of Monteiths Pales.
