THE ROSE;THE DUCK AND THE ROYAL EXHIBITION HOTEL
Isn’t it odd how there are so many interpretations of the rule about bringing children into pubs, I am all in favour of kids being kept clear of the bar area but there is no consistency, some pubs only allow them in the bistro some will allow them to sit in the pub so long as they stay away from the bar area and some allow them to run all over the place.
Anyhow moving on.
As well as Bitter Phew we went to the Rose, The Duck and the royal exhibition pubs in Sydney on the weekend.
Well it was hot and we had travelled two and a half hours on the train then walked to the hotel we where staying at and so where doing a perish.
In the Rose we had between us a Frankenzammer Weissbier; a Murrays Angry Man IPA; a Hoppy Goblin Pale and a bright red fire engine
I was quite happy in the Rose but we decided to nip around the corner to have a look at the Duck.
Here I had a London Pride because it was on the hand pump the others had a Murrays Fred Pale Ale a Hills Cider, not the hopped cider, the other one. and I had a Mornington Brown Ale, The boss of the Duck poured us a Jug of Murrays Whale Ale which the barman put in the fridge till we where ready but an off duty cook came and claimed it as a staffie, the quick and the dead in this world.
Next day we waited for the mountains train in the Royal Exhibition and had a couple of Coppers Pales and a Tooheys Old, I wasn’t all that impressed with this pub, it definitely made no concession to the craft beer movement.
THERE IS A FIRE ENGINE IN THERE SOMEWHERE@ THE ROSE
