LEURA GOLF CLUB
For a while the Leura Golf Club was known as a place to go for a good selection of craft beer beer, both on tap and in bottles. There was a bar manager there how was interested in craft beer and was active in promoting it, and was involved in various beer centred events, but unfortunately he either moved on or was moved on
So that has all changed, and as there has been a staff change and now the bar has returned to a much less interesting and exciting venue. Apart from the usual VB and Carlton and the obligatory tap wasting cider the remaining taps where taken up with Sydney Brewery beers, nothing wrong with these beers, but then nothing special about them either. From where I was standing I couldn’t see anything worth buying from the fridge either.
The dining/bar area of the club is quite large and airy, with big windows overlooking the course. The bistro served a reasonable sized and priced meal and apart from the distance from town, not an issue if driving, it is not a bad place to go for a meal . and $3.00 schooners from five pm is a good deal with the limited beer choice on offer.
I went through the Sydney Brewing list:- Paddo Pale; Surry Hills Pils; Summer Ale and Porter not bad beers in
themselves but as was a expecting/hoping for something a bit more interesting and challenging I was somewhat disappointed
